Adult Kart Class Points and Format

Victory Lane Karting Youth League: Adult Kart Class

Class Rules:

The Adult Kart class is intended for racers that are looking for more competitive racing. The requirements for racing in this class are:

-  Be at least 58” inches tall and under 16 years of age with competitive karting experience OR

- Having completed an Adult Kart Certification Class; this can be either through a driving school, through our summer camp or being approved after competing successfully in our Youth Kart Class.

- Be able to complete consecutive safe laps in the Adult Kart, meaning being able to complete multiple laps without hitting walls, spinning out, or stopping due to excessive sliding.

- Being respectful to other racers and obeying the racing flags, signs and officials.

I. Race Format:

In this format, drivers will compete in three separate races, starting in three different positions. To clarify, there are three rounds of racing for each driver. Drivers will start in a different position for each race based on their qualifying. This is to promote passing, learning to race in a pack and the overall ability of the racers. We will start with a 1 lap qualifying session where drivers will be stopped on track and sent by the official to start their qualifying lap. (See Section II for qualifying rules). Following the qualifying session, we will have our field ranked, by time, from first to last. We will then split the field in half (odds and evens) and place drivers into heats (Heat A - odds and Heat B - evens). All drivers will have the chance to start in the top 3rd of a race, the middle 3rd of a race, and the back 3rd of a race. For example, if you qualify 1st overall, you will be placed into Heat A and start in positions 1st, 11th, and 6th. If you qualify 10th overall, you will be placed into Heat B and start in positions 7th, 2nd, and 12th. The field is separated into thirds (1-5, 6-10, and 11-15). If you are first (meaning even heat starting first and odd heat starting first), you start in the first position per each third.

**(# of laps may change based timing)

If we have 30 or less racers, we will have 3, 12-lap rounds per driver. If we have 31-45 racers, we will have 3, 9-lap rounds per driver.

II. Qualifying Rules:

·        If a driver spins out during their qualifying lap, they will take their given time and will not redo their qualifying

·        If a driver spins out and massively disrupts others lap time (more than 1.5 seconds) in that qualifying session, those drivers affected will be allowed to redo their qualifying BUT, not the at fault driver.

IV. Heat Races:

·        These races will start by a single file, rolling start and will be scored by finishing position. Each driver must safely make it past the designated passing corner before making any pass attempts on another driver. If you complete a pass before the passing corner, you will receive a meatball flag to give the position back and try again.

·        If the officials deem there is a bad start, the race will be red flagged and re-started. The at fault driver will receive one warning and can try again. If the same issue occurs, the at fault driver will be sent to the rear of the field.

V. Points:

·        We will use Olympic style scoring to determine the weekly winner. For example, if you finish 1st, you will receive 1 point. Lowest score for the day will win the overall weekend. The overall results will be determined day of. Drivers will receive their season points based on their overall result for each weekend. If there is a tie, the tie goes to the driver with the best finishing position that weekend.

·        Drivers will drop their single, worst scoring weekend.

·        There will be a bonus point given to the driver that makes the most passes in all races. This will be called the “Hard Charger”.

Youth Kart Class

Victory Lane Karting Youth League: Youth Kart Class

Race Format: (Field may be capped at 48 drivers)(Session numbers may be changed depending on efficiency and # of drivers racing)

Each week a driver will race:

-           3 lap Qualifying session

-           10 min Heat Race

-           12 min Final Race

Depending on the number of drivers, how we divide up the Heat races and Main races may change. If there are more than 12 drivers, we will divide the field and do multiple heat races and multiple mains (A, B, C, D, etc…)

3 lap Qualifying sessions:

o    Best lap time results combined, even positions in Heat A, odd positions in Heat B. (If more than two sessions, we will divide fields into thirds or fourths.)

8 min Heat Races:

o    Drivers will be told in the drivers meeting, which finishing positions from each Heat, transfer to the A Main Race.

o    All other finishers transfer into B Main, C Main or D Main.

§   Example: if there are 3 heat races and 3 mains, the top 3 finishers from all heat races may transfer to A Main, 4th place – 6th place may transfer to B Main and 7th place – 9th place may transfer to C Main (transfer # will change depending on number of racers that come each week)

Main Races (8-12 min):

o    Start position determined by fastest lap time from the heat races compared to opposite races, same finishing position driver.

o    The winner of a Main race will transfer to the next Main race run. (C Main winner will transfer to B Main and so on.)
